Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can't comment on pila, or any of the individual shops there, but in general you're going to save 20-40% booking online, so I'd always recommend it.

http://www.snowbrainer.co.uk might be a place to start looking for shops... but do your own Googling* too.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

mcclu_d - whereabouts in Pila are you staying? There is a place right by the Plan Bois hotel at top of resort that is v cheap and friendly and decent gear, but so small I can't imagine they have online facilities. I've only done the online route once (this yr in La Plagne) and sure was cheaper - about 40% off. Dunn if its your first time there but Pila is excellent by the way. Outstanding meals at the Chamole rifugio (top of Chamole lift), and the pizzas at La Montanara (attached to Plan Bois hotel and which you can see from the Leisse lift) are superb too.

Hi patrick, Rob

Yea , first time to Pila, staying in aoste, have found several shops, but was looking at Gal sports in aoste, as we can get gear in afternoon, ready for skiing on sunday, without having to get lift pass.

Our only slight problem is tansport to resort, we land in turin at 10:10 sat, bus leaves at 10:45, cant see us making this so will have to go in to turin and catch train

regards

Dave

mcclu_d, Gal sports is ideally situated at the foot of the gondola from Aosta to Pila. The staff are helpful and speak English, and they had a good selection of equipment last time I was there. Another poster reported that they had set his bindings too high so it might be worth checking if you do use them.

Re transport, dunno how many of you there are, but last time I went via Turin I hired a car and drove, it's only about 70 miles.

Ditto the food recommendations above, and don't forget to have at least one Bombardino in the Yeti bar Madeye-Smiley
