Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Off to Bicester tomorrow

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My troublesome feet could be in for a shock tomorrow as I head off to Solutions4feet. My Dr is fairly sure I have another 2 Mortons Neuroma's growing, one in each foot, I have yet to see the surgeon, I really want to make it at least 6 months since he discharged me from the op to remove the last one. Embarassed if I can get rid of the agony both feet are causing, I won't need to see the surgeon at all.

What I was wondering, is does anyone have any experience in getting there from Suffolk?, my sat nav tells me to go A12/M25/M40 but on a Friday, I don't really want to do that much motorway driving for fear of delays, so was thinking of following the Royston / Luton route (A505), then the M40, or I could even go via Cambridge, then Bedford.

Any suggestions ??

Thanks.

Possibly Cambridge, Bedford, Buckingham, Bicester would work. All single carriageway from MK though, and an irksome 50 limit. Fast between A1 and Bedford though with good dual carriageway.

May be better to get to Northampton, pick up A43 to M40, then come down 1 junction to Bicester - dual carriageway all the way between M1 and M40! Not sure about suffolk end of route, but A43 is good for western end.

pippivixen, locally (Portsmouth) Morton's Neuromas are getting "zapped" under radiographic control rather than cutting open your foot - you might want to ask if this is available in Suffolk as you don't then have a big cut to heal up afterwards.

Nick L, I have 2 Mortons surgery scars...now he tells me! wink Can obstinate metatarsal bursa's be treated similarly?

pippivixen, I can't really advise on the route, but I wish you good luck in getting your feet comfy Very Happy

BTW I have driven the route from MK and Buckingham through to Bicester plenty, and it is single carriageway, mostly 50 limit, but not a bad route. Bicester has a big outlet shopping village with plenty of designer shops, plus a HH shop, North Face, Tog24, Timberland etc Great if you like shopping Very Happy

Nick L, That's interesting, thanks. I have had two removed from my right foot and I am in considerably more pain with these two new ones than I ever was with the original two. I think skiing in November angered these two somewhat !!!

I have private medical insurance, so I am not restricted to where I get seen, I will ask my surgeon (if I see him) if he is aware of this new treatment if not, I will look into finding somwehere which does.

Randomsabreur, Thanks also for this, I have just looked at that route and it certainly appears to have better roads than my A505 idea.

pippivixen - the only thing to watch is that the centre of Bicester can be hell and parking difficult - despite the large car park in the centre of town. It took me a good 20 minutes to park and the traffic was ok when I was there.

Solutions4Feet is also a "little tricky" to find - it's up a little alley in a courtyard - near the supermarket.

pippivixen, Best way to get to Bicester: Take M25 to Watford turn off Junction 20, take the A41 to Aylesbury, go around the ring road past the turn off for Oxford and look for Waddesdon and Bicester still the A41. Easy and really straight forward and no motorways after the M25, should take about 90mins from M25. Once you get past Aylesbury it's a nice ride in the country side. Smile Don't forget to take some pork pies. Toofy Grin

Thanks everyone, I have just heard there is an accident on the A14, so unless that clears it could scupper my plans for that route, the M25 also has an accidents at the A127 junction with queue clogging up the M25 /A12 junction in both directions, so I am glad I hadn't planned on taking that one. I will probably head down to Colchester, then cut across and do the M40/A43/A45/A14 route on the way home. If all else fails I will leave it in the hands of Mable, my Sat Nav !!!!

As for the pies NehNeh I love pies and have been so good on my diet, I am sure I deserve one or two, or three or................................. Toofy Grin

Well, I got there..............a bit late, after too many road closures for my liking and on a route nothing like the one I set off on, but the eventual 300 mile round trip was well worth it, I found my new boots didn't fit rolling eyes but soon found a pair which did, then insoles made to measure, boots adjusted, means I have a wonderful pair of ski boots which are so comfy, the kids are in hysterics as I have been wearing them around the house. Laughing I took the M40/A43/A45/A14 route home, which, if I was to go back again for any reason, this is the route I would take.
