Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Chamonix/Argentiere

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

Im off to Chamonix/Argentiere in a few weeks and was wondering if anybody in the know could give me some information.

1) Which are the best mountain restaurants in the area? (i have heard it is best to avoid the ones that are owned by the lift company)

2) Best places to go out in both resorts. Both Apres and Later in the evening.

3) Good restaurants to eat at in the evening.

Thanks

1. Chalet Refuge de Lognan. Just awesome food, and a great atmosphere.

2. Chambre Neuf or MBC in Chamonix. The former for Swedes, the latter for North Americans.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

cham08, We were in Argentiere last week, if you're on the moutain at Grands Montets try the Plan Joran restaurant for the best tartiflette in the area (according to my mate who now considers himself a connoisseur !) and a very pleasant terrace to sit out in the sun if it's shining.
Nightlife in Argentiere, there's plenty bars - the Stone Bar, the Rusty (good food), the Office are a few, all within minutes walk of each other.
Then there's the club/disco further down the road toward the lifts, which I can't remember the name of...it's downstairs in a small shopping mall opposite a really, really good pizza place, again, sorry I can't remember the name of this either...anyhow, the club has a bucking bronco which is a bit of a giggle after a few...
There should be some locals along soon with some more info, or as suggested above do a search - I found lots of info here, and also on http://www.compagniedumontblanc.com and http://www.chamonet.com/
Have fun ! Toofy Grin

ami in berlin, Lognan is only awesome if you like Croute.

cham08, if you're up Brevents, the new restaurant at the top of the bubble is quite nice.

I love the Cremerie du Glacier - look out for the sign on the right near the end of the Pierre a Ric home run and you can get to it through the woods. One of the few that's not lift-company run.

I've had some surprisingly good meals at the Marmottons at the base too. Very good spinach lasagne. Plan Joran is not bad either. Avoid Le Spot at the top though.

The bucking bronco bar is called bard'up.

Should you wind up in Les Houches (good on a bad vis day because of the trees), go to Les Vieilles Luges, it's amazing

In Vallorcine, the train station restaurant is great

MBC/Chambre neuf seconded for apres and later Smile
