TK Maxx in Rugby has got some awesome stuff in at the moment, ready for the new season, and I don't think they're fully stocked up yet!!
Pick up a pair of H/H pants for £40 (RRP £100 in Ellis Brigham) and I got the most craziest Trespass pants in puke yellow - proper 80s!!
Also picked up this:
http://www.groovstar.co.nz/clevel.htm
Never heard of Groovstar but it's a brilliant jacket. Got it for £40 in Kelly Green (to go with the pukey coloured pants). There were a few in stock but the one I got was priced up wrong - should have been £69.99 - result!!
Spotted an amazing and collectable Quicksilver jacket with a design by Futura, the guy who does all the graphics for the band U.N.K.L.E. - very desirable. Also saw the same jacket with a limited Maharishi design. Looks like TK is the place to shop the Autumn.

Think you have to get int here quick when you're looking for lasses stuff, although the Rugby store has some awesome Nike ACG and H/H stuff in at the mo and loads of it too.

D.C. is owned by quicksilver and this is a brand that attempts to saturate the maket with there products, usually putting them in an overstocked situation leading to them selling to TK MAXX when the specialist retailers can't buy anymore.
Not great business sense(imo) but great for bargain hunters, even if they are last years models as a rule!

I went in on Friday to buy some pillows, and checked out the ski gear. There wasn't much in either men's or ladies, but the ladies had a nice Columbia jacket, but only in a small size. I may be pixie in height, but it wouldn't fasten.

Maxx down here had a Quicksilver jacket with no zip that you had to put on over your head like a poncho, plus some other good gear, but not much. They always seem to have the gear on the wrong size hangers though, real pain

a bit more gear there today, even some white snowboard boots for £50 DC I think - not very comfy though for me
loads of stuff for the ladies too,
even some really bright orange sallops that Stab might like

so true. It once took me the entire time that the Toyota dealer was fitting a new clutch to my car, just to find a jacket which fitted and was comfortable. That was in Waterlooville, the only TK Maxx I know around our area. But it did 3 seasons and cost £50 and I still wear it frequently.

bought some white mittens for a tenner, i just needed white gloves but mitts will do, because it is so easy to spot people on the slopes with white gloves on. Too scared to wear orange pants

katiebeagle, bit late now but don't buy tube socks. They wrinkle up on the top of your ankle and can get quite uncomfortable. Wearing "proper" socks (i.e. shaped, with a heel) for the forst time was a revelation for me, I dumped all my tubes and went out and bought more proper socks. Even better if you find them, you can get socks for specific left or right feet with extra padding for the bony areas. Again, just makes things a little more comfortable. Above all don't buy thick socks, get them as thin as you can find.

nbt, thanks for that....they wont go to waste. I walk dogs for a living so they'll get worn out at some point. Will just have to go out and buy different socks - what a shame

rayscoops, I can see that it would, but it also compresses and loses a tiny bit of your control. The shaped socks i mentioned do have padding along the shin for that very purpose - your technique is obviously excellent as you should be using your shins to press forward and control your boot. Not sure about your calf though...
amongst other, I use these

Mrs NBT uses something similar from Bridgedale

I pushed the boat out last year and spent all of £3.50 on some Head sock with padding and they are the dog's bits! Same as you - ditched the tubes.

Was at the Maxx tonight. Unbelievable yet again. Quiksilver Tundra pants in Saddle Brown £40 (http://www.quiksilver.com/products/detail.aspx?id=3005). Incredible for a pair of Gore-tex pants. They go perfect with my Olive Green Quiksilver Gravity jacket (also Gore-tex) (http://www.cheapboards.nl/detail_pagina2.asp?ProductID=221) that I got last year in the same place for £70. I reckon it's upwards of 450 quids worth of gear for just over a tonne. Saw the Futura design pants too. Now if the Maxx did skis/snowboards...
edited: found webpage for the jacket (if anyone's interested)

I picked up a pair of West Scout salopettes that were marked down to £30. The 'original' price was marked as £168. I've no idea how true that original price is or in fact who West Scout are. But I'm well chuffed (unless someone tells me West Scout are rubbish and they'll fall apart in the suitcase). There was a matching jacket which I really liked and it felt really comfortable except that it was like a bomber style jacket, if you lift your arms the jacket rides up above the waist.
One tip: don't necessarily trust the sizes on the tags. I was looking for size large and the hanger and tag both said XL so I ignored them first. Then checked the inside label and it said large. Tried them on and they fitted perfect.
