Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Poor snow conditions

Hey folks,

I'm still a newbie around here but while skulking around I've noticed several people ask questions about cancelling their holiday because of potentially poor conditions.

Does anyone actually do this??? Shocked

I've been going on ski/snowboard holidays for 8 years and even with the very poor season last year, I never considered cancelling for a second. I only get one (or two if I'm very lucky) winter holiday weeks each year and they are far too precious to me for sitting on me ass back home. Laughing

Yes I've been aprehenshive (sp?) about conditions but there will nearly always be somewhere close by to slide around on.

I was in morzine around this time last year and morzine village looked more like spring than winter but plenty fun was to be had up at avoriaz and it didn't spoil my holiday at all.

Small rant over.

joe1978, totally agree. No poor conditions where I'm going though. http://www.serre-chevalier.com/Webcam-Monetier-le-Bachas-en Very Happy Very Happy snowHead .

I have only once even considered cancelling, and that was when a 'tropical punch' washed most of the snow off the mountain in Whistler, meaning a very expensive long-distance trip for poor snow. As I couldn't cancel the fligths we decided to go anyway, and had a great time.

In a bad snow winter many people try to cancel or switch destinations.

If you're holding a cancellable hotel booking, or have only made a limited down-payment on some other accommodation, why not? If you can get from one part of the Alps with little snow, to another with a lot, at short notice, there's a lot to be said for it.

That said, I've never done it, and I started paying for my own ski holidays in 1970.

David Goldsmith, Good point with regard to DIY holidays I was thinknig from a TO package point of view. Then again I haven't used a TO for 3 years now and will never again if I can help it. Very Happy

I've booked 2 weeks off in July but I've heard it might not be sunny, should I cancel?? Laughing Laughing

DB, broadly accurate but I wasn't born in 1940 - I was born in 1953. Yes, I had trouble financing my own ski holidays before the age of seventeen.

I have never been a representitive of the Soviet secret ski service. [bloke with edging tool hiding behind Russian bookcase]

David Goldsmith, oh, if you are as young as that I'll have to call you "young David" in future.
