Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Helmets - trying and buying

Hi all,

I'm based in Cheshire so nearish to Manchester for S&R, Ellis Brigham etc. but am having real problems finding anywhere with a range of ski helmets to try before buying. There are lots on websites, but I really feel that I should be trying a few different sizes/styles before deciding on which to go for.

I have been in S&R on Princess Parkway, and Ellis Brigham in town, but only found a really small selection with not very many different styles or sizes. There are loads more available online though.

Any advice? Where have others been to try on lids?

Don't know what they have in stock but Glide'n'Slide in Otley were recommended to me as being very good/helpful.

Deliaskis, I Lived close to Glide'n'Slide and got my boots fitted there, 99% of the time the guy who owns the shop is there (only not running the shop when he gets his couple of weeks skiing in a year) I would reccomend it for the service, but may be worth dropping them a call to see if they have a decent selection of helmets first...
