Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

or is there a free bus ? How far aprt are the two villages ?

Is it like Val D'Isere where you rely on the free bus, you wouldn't want to walk from La Di or Le fornet back to the main town.

I can't see any mention of a free ski bus anywhere

micky,

You could walk but there is a regular free bus which only takes about 5 minutes. Smile

micky, I don't think you'd want to walk. I used a bus quite a lot because I had lessons at 1850 but was staying in 1650. It seemed quite a long way. There was little traffic at the time and the bus got up quite a speed. It might only have been 5 minutes - seemed more but it was a long time ago and maybe my memory is playing tricks. I'd say it was a bit further than La Daille to the centre of Val D'Isere. But that's impressionistic, too. I don't remember having to wait too long for the bus.

Just over 2 miles by road Centre 1850 - centre of 1650. Suggest you take the bus.

The free bus runs until 11.30pm. I'd take the bus.

You can walk it easily in summer, but you would want to hope that the path is covered in snow at the moment.

I was just getting an idea of how spread out the villages are, someone who has been there said there are cable lifts everywhere but they don't show on the piste map I've seen - I don't think he is aware of 1650's location.

I walked it a couple of years ago when we were there for a week. It snowed so much we couldn't ski. We were up to our waists in snow on the path and it was quite scary - so I don't recommend it!
