Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Scheffau - 9th March - Safeish bet ?? Peisey a better one??

Would you feel safe booking now for Scheffau for 9th March?

We have a 3 year old and so are quite keen to go with Ski Esprit and they don't have much left with right dates/flights/childcare etc.

Scheffau seems very low, I usually go for resort height of 1800 + for safety so would appreciate any words of wisdom on this one.

I will rethink the childcare rather than take a big risk on the snow.

Thanks snowHead

sarah, Yes.... I know what you mean about the height, but they've had a very good start to the season over there and have a very good base. I was there before crimbo and conditions were just fantastic.

I'd also say the early march is probably the most snow-sure time of the year IMO so I reckon you'll be fine. Ski Welt is a great ski area - some fantastic mountain restaurants if you have foody tendancies like I do.

sarah, You should be safe enough....it's a good start to the season and the nice thing about the area is that the lower pistes are generally over grass so you don't need a huge amount of snow for them to be open. We went to Scheffau in late March a few years ago and it was absolutely fine.

Thanks red 27, and homphomp,
DH is not convinced and so now we're looking at Peisey! And yes, I know the Vanoise is down for the season, Although it's higher I would worry there about the runs back to the accomm getting a bit thin Confused

Votes for one or the other anyone??

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I've ordered the best snow for serre chevalier for that week Very Happy It seems to have decent creches. I'd say you have options in most places given age of your child so could be more independent

dan100, Thanks for that, a friend of mine went to Serre Chevalier twice last season as they loved it so much and she put her 2 year old into the local creche and she was fine. But DS is 3 and so can try to learn to ski depending on the resort because some will only start them at 4. And also at this age I am quite keen to tap into the specialist British family TOs offerings for reasons such as the group of little ones will be 6 max, they send a nanny 'minder' along with them to the class for their 'non-skiing needs', the group will be all english speaking etc.
