Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

beedeji, I tried pairs of Golds (181) and Big-84s (188) in plenty of fresh snow in Tignes in December. Loved them. They do ski shorter than their specified length due to the hugely long snout, e.g. those Big-84s have a running length of only 156cm! That snout means that they climb almost any lump of snow in your path without noticing it. Allegedly they're pretty rubbish when the surface gets harder - but I have no experience of that. Brilliant soft snow skis, but incredibly expensive (those Golds are about €1000) and there have been problems with someof their models delaminating (and the company has only just come back from the grave), so not sure I'd buy some.

Love them. Bought some 75's 4 years ago. Avoid the "Reds" (all red with white logo and square tail). They're the ones that delaminate. Go for either of the whites - white with red (75's) or white with black (84's) or golds (black with gold) depending on what you're doing.

They are no fun on hard stuff. They are fantastic in soft snow (inc. slush) and excel carving and in powder (not many skis give you both).

Any how it's a no-brainer. It's dumping down there as we speak to a low altitude and you have to go with a ski that loves soft snow. The 84's are the best all round of the range whilst the Gold are stiffer and up there with the best of any specialist fat ski. I'm 1.75m and ski on 1.77. The extra length makes no difference on piste as they ski short.

I was always gutted they never did any clothing or at least a cap or T-shirt! I would buy again at the drop of a hat although I think movement are also very interesting for something better on hard pack if your only ski.
