Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Don't think I have been to any Swiss border that is not open 24 hours, even if it isn't manned or attended.

If you see no one jumping out with a gun just drive through. Can't remember being stopped there but the one in Col de Forclaz has no one attended in bad weather, late at night, etc. Just drive slowly at the border. N5 is a trunk route for the Swiss and French at Geneva Lake.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you have stuff that you need to get a stamp for, or inspected, choose a main motorway access border point.

I think you are right. I recall seeing a sign outside Evian that said it was closed from 10.30 at night but this may be just for HGV's. I didnt want to chance it, if it meant i would have to detour back around the lake or via Morgins/Chatel

saikee, rather like the French/Swiss border at Basle station, turn up there at 5am and nobody even looks at your passport let alone checks for duty items

dz4d1v, I think ibexman, and snowbunny, are both correct, you can cross the border there 24/7 but if you need documents signed/validated or anything like that you need to be there after 5am and before 10pm
