Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I was just wondering if anybody has bought/used a pair of these and what their like? Also what skiing level should you be for them?

Thanks!

whitewookie, welcome to snowHead

I tried them on, but they weren't that good a fit for me.
If they fit you, they might be a good choice. A bootfitter will help with that.

whitewookie, Personally not a massive fan, we had a pair on test last season and found that as you flex into the boot it collapses over the forefoot (directly above the rubber inserts). The inserts also mean that the boot cannot be deformed/stretched in the forefoot.

If you're after skiboots, get yourself to an experienced bootfitter who will be able to chose you a boot that best matches the shape of your foot and can make you an orthotic footbed to stabilise the foot inside the boot- these are the basics behind a properly fitting boot. I'm sure someone on this forum will be able to give you some recommendations......

not really wanting to get into an argument about this one, but there is no problem in stretching the Hawx, it just takes a little more time than to stretch a conventional shell. it cetainly would not be a boot i would consider for a client where it was going to need to have a lot of shell work doing in the forefoot [fore bunions etc] and as you say it is definately not for everyone , but no boot is, and yes there is an amount of deformation of the forefoot, that said people that have the boot really like the feel. Biomechanically it all makes perfect sence so as they say if the boot fits.......

the key is as you say fit find a fitter and take some advice Little Angel

Hi guys, I bought some of these after going on the Atomic Bootcamp (got them at Manchester S&R, with custom footbeds), I love them!

Fit my feet perfect, feel brill when turning, and the flex helps you start turns and makes it easy to walk in!

Highly recommended!

Any views on whether all this flexing affects how the boot will release from the binding?

CEM, Fair enough, when I mentioned the shell deforming I was thinking about significant localised/precise forefoot deformations (large bunions etc). And as you point out it's all about personal choices and they can never be truly explained.... (who in their right mind actually thinks football is a sport? Or that 72mm in the waist is an 'all-mountain ski?) Twisted Evil
