Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

going to kronplatz in feb and like the idea of getting the sella ronda circuit in - how easy/difficult is it for a mixed group and is it worth the effort to drive an hour to go and do??

any views??

I'd say it was definitely worth the effort, you might want to check the weather before you set out though - when we were there last year the circuit was closed by high winds on a couple of days. I reckon it took us about 3 hours skiing to do the circuit - although we're not particularly fast. In terms of difficulty the route in either direction is blue and red pistes with the reds on the easier end in my view, there are a couple of places where the pistes, although wide can get chopped up by the number of people going over them.

There's a couple of recent threads around on the dolomites and the sella ronda:

You will have to set out early to do the Sella Ronda circuit. Depending on where you are in the Kronplatz region. Closest tatke but to Pedraces, ski to La Villa, Take gondola up over GS course (nice and steep). then a ski to Corvara. At this point you are on the Sella Ronda so you will have to get a move on. If you have a car however drive straight to Corvara this should take about 30 mins, but on slope about 1 hour 45 mins depending on catching bus.

You will however be rewarded by the scenery.

Did the Sella Ronda last january (based in Selva). It'll take a middle intermediate about 3 hours even stoppin for some scoff. fab scenery - stop off at Edelweiss valley for a shoosh or 3 and a vino caldo :- just awesome.

skimonkey, The problem I thought they may have is to get there from Kronplatz. By ski you would have to get to Brunica then ski over to Picolin, then catch a bus (waiting) and get bussed to Pedraces 20 mins, ski to La Villa and then over to Corvara. Then start the Sella Ronda. Perfectly doable but much easier now that they will start at Corvara.

I was thinking of going to Kronplatz last week for a day from Ortisei but reckoned it would be too much effort by skis and there was so much terrain locally I didn't bother.

I have some videos from my trip to the Sellaronda at this link

We did the Sellaronda in both directions with a mixed group of skiers and snowboarders last year - it's great and not taxing with some great routes off it. Stops are bountiful, cheap and delicious. We're going back shortly to do a little stunt there...

You could also try the Hidden Valley run from Lagazuoi to Armentarola, the scenery is spectacular.

fallliner, from a freestyle view I thought the park in Seiseralm was a little intimidating as there was only a pro jump line. I couldn't find the other parks as they aren't maked on piste maps. Apparently there is one between Selva and Canazei but I couldn't find it the day I was over that direction.
