Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val d'Isere 09-16 February - info on queues

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi everyone!

I am headed to Val d'Isere on February 9. I have already been there twice before but always during the quiet month of January. This time I will be there during the first week of the French school holidays.

Have any of you been to Val d'Isere during the school holidays? How crowded is the resort in February? Should I expect queues throughout the day or only during the first morning hours in the lifts close to the villages? Any specific areas to avoid?

Anyway, I will be staying close to L'Olympique and Solaise cable cars, so I will probably manage to get into one of these lifts just before the morning crowds arrive. But I am worried I'll find queues all day long in the upper lifts of the resort... Confused

Any info is appreciated! Thanks!

We were there for that week last year. There were some queues, but nothing to bad. Most of the mountain was fine with only the odd queue first thing in the morning and then towards the end of the day if it was a crucial link back to the resort.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

We were there during our half term last year and only had one epic - after three days of snow the first sunny afternoon created a massive bottleneck - as two pistes back into Val were closed due to avalanche risk. It was the Le LAc lift near the top of Solaise - it was so bad I wlaked up the piste! Not as heroic as it sounds - its a green and took about 25 mins and I met my family at the top who had queued for the the same time.

Otherwise I was well impressed if the whole the lfit system - the odd 5 minute wait but no more provided you clear Olympique or Solaise before the ski schools...

I'm sure you'll have a great time snowHead
