Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

montgenevre 13th april?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi,

I am looking for a "value" late trip and i found a 4 night break BB & EM for £180 and Turin flights for £45 return.

I've visited this resort before but not quite so late, I know it's quite high at 1850 but the highest lifts arn't that high, i think about 2500ish.

I've done the 3v at that time of year and whilst Meribel was unskiable there was plenty of terrain above 2500m to go at.

The depths are good so far this year, 150 and 120 but do the Snowheads think this is a bit too late and are there any alternatives for the money?

Any advice appreciated as I am taking my 37year old brother who hasn't skiied since school and I want to make sure he has a good time.

Cheers

BTW that is the only time we can go.

The lifts go upto 2650.

Le Chalvet southside I imagine would be mainly shut. The slopes down to the bottom might be getting rather slushly though.

The main side last year had the majority of the slopes open on the last day of the reason which was the 3rd week of April. there is a big base to melt, if tempratures are low it wouldnt be a problem at all. It has its own microclimate, so it isnt an accurate comparison to other resorts of a similar height. Sestriere is about 300m higher and Montgenevre normally always has better and more snow.

I imagine a lot of people will suggest going higher to somewhere like Tignes or Val Thorens. I personally wouldnt think Montgenevre would be a problem.

ESF has a very ski school in Monty. Might be worth checking him in, also gives you time to get out cruising.
