Welcome to snowHeads bonfie,
So by 'single holiday' do you mean you're a 'solo skier' or looking to pull?
If the former, are you actually wanting to travel alone (and probably pay the ensuing supplements) or find a ski-buddy to share with?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Try one of the holidays with www.snoworks.co.uk. Ideal if your travelling alone, all sorts of courses to choose from and they will pair you up with someone to share a room (same sex).

bonfie, welcome to Snowheads. You could also try www.inspiredtoski.com I did a trip on my own with them, and shared a room with another woman travelling alone. That was to save money; you can obviously have your own room, if you want, but it cost quite a bit more. There were quite a few singletons in the various groups. And the standard of tuition was excellent, in small groups.

bonfie, if you are keen to improve your skiing, one of the instructional weeks would give you like-minded people to socialise with, though we mostly just went for a drink, as we were all exhausted from skiing all day! I've never had a BBQ on a ski holiday though; could be a tad chilly. Depending on the resort, activities like toboganning, skittles, etc are usually available in the evenings. If you don't want to do an instructional holiday (where most people are focussed very strongly on the skiing, rather than socialising) then a catered chalet would probably be your best bet - if you speak to the tour operators they could advise you as to which chalets might have other single people in, rather than just families. There are also some "student style" cheap holiday outfits, which use French youth hostels. My daughter and BF just booked Flaine for half term (teachers) all in prices, very cheap, don't put prices up for half term! Can't remember the name of the outfit, but if you were interested, I could ask her. The BF has done one of their holidays before, said it was a brilliant format - he went alone, and said it was extremely sociable. Instruction, at all levels (they are both very good skiers but like having lessons) is included in the price.

Or look on the Neilson Site and join a group of singles. Pistepals also offer a similar service.
Stick a post on Chalets Direct . com some chalets have smaller twins or 'eaves' rooms that are suitable for single occupancy.
There is a chalet in Chamonix that specialises in big brother style ski hols. They pair you up with someeone of same age /sex, might be chalet russel, but dont quote me on that.
Skiing on your own is OK, as long as you dont push it. I had a accident and knocked my head. I got concussion, and cant rembember a Medevac heli having to land. I skied out OK with a pisteur.

bonfie, If you can go before the 1st week of Feb, you'll find some good deals. The snow conditions at the moment are good just about everywhere in the Alps so you'll be spoilt for choice if you can move quickly. We've got a special offer for January in our chalet, Le Mouflon in La Rosiere 1850 you can check out the details on www.tracksvacations.com and we'll make sure you get your own room with no single supplements.

bonfie, I went on a weekend break with this company http://www.speedbreaks.co.uk/ski/ - they offer Singles ski holidays. On the trip I went on there was a mixture of single people and solo travellers e.g. whose partner didn't ski. Age range was mid 20s to early 50s. I shared a twin room with another lady to keep the cost down but there was the option to have a room for single use.

You know it makes sense.

Jo66, did you pull though Jo - and if so how much did you have to bribe your roomy to go to the pictures for the night?

red 27, I didn't pull and didn't go with that intention - I don't think my partner would have been very happy! Although I guess there would have been the potential as others had their own rooms and my roomy only stayed 2 nights rather than 3 (nothing I said - she had to get back to work) so I had the room to myself on the last night!

red 27, I didn't really want to accept buying new and selling the others on eBay but I could see that Danny and I were never going to come to an agreement that suited both of us. So I posted on here instead and 'voila' it had the desired effect - got my point accross to a lot of people and brought the issue of ill fitting boots to the fore!
I would have loved to have taken it further but what's the point? My partner is a solicitor and now that he knows the full story he's all for issuing proceedings! But I think not - I'll see what I get for them on eBay.
