Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

holidayloverxx, Knowing your skiing. Erase the idea of doing the 'Knot Chutes' this trip. Something to look forward to on future trips though.

Spyderman, never fear - that's not something I intend to tackle any time soon (thanks for pointing out the danger!).
I skied powder at Tignes on the boot camp - 1st time. lots of falling over, but laughing a lot as well! I think it's something I need to add to my repetoire (having tackled ice at the PSB)

I went to Fernie as a middle aged intermediate. If you don;t try stuff you;ll never improve. I didn't think Knot chutes were *that* hard?

They're steep, tight, the snow conditions vary day to day, they're avvy prone, and under a chairlift.
I actually can't think of a worse marked run in resort to recommend.

nbt, just trying pow on un-groomed trails is a challenge right now. If I manage that then I will definitely be able to say that I have improved.
I found the trail map on far.redtree.com very interesting and I hope will be useful, the way he describes the various runs with pictures (last season).
DaveC, any recommndations welcome

hhmm so you want something a bit challenging with some powder and the chance of trees but nothing too extreme right? The steep blues here are like euro reds but there are a few you can do that will let you to duck off the side into a lightly gladed area. Milky way, Heartland, Down Right, Currie Powder to name but a few. The top section of Falling Star is fun but it involves a long cruise on a cat track to get out.
There are plently of green runs too which will be groomed with powder on top if its dumped (my brother informs me this is called "hero snow") so good for practice. I tend to just throw myself down stuff without knowing what it is, makes me learn quick
