Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Whick ski's to use?

I have had a gap from skiing of a few years but will be going in Feb. I have a pair of 2002 Rossignol Power T Cobra X ski's that are in excellent condition but as part of the holiday I can have free standard rental ski's.

All the skiing will be on-piste, so the question is should I take the Cobras or will technology have moved on enough that the standard rental ski's will give a better experience? Of course I have no idea what would be provided as rentals.

Malcy, Pay for a upgrade from the standard ski and try some of the latest skis to check out difference from the skis you last used.

Hmm, that's a possibility. I could just take my smowblades and test some current models while there.

What models should I look out for? The skiing is all on-piste.

Oh yes, and I agree with riverman, pay a little extra to upgrade to some 'performance' skis (as I believe they are refered to now).

Laughing Nothing, per se...

My new Volkl Tigersharks are the bees knees for on-piste skis. Also have a look at the Rossignol Z9s, cracking pair also.

Malcy, will be difficult to say whether the rental skis will be better for you than your own. If you decide to test, there's a very wide range of recreational skis these days so what you test depends on what kind of skier you are. Don't know if you caught any of the ski mag reviews? Otherwise http://www.ski-review.com/ http://www.skireviews.co.uk/ are good places to start to get a feel for the sort of thing out there. Best not to choose a ski to buy just from a review though! Snowblades are fine, just that real skiers here don't consider them real skis - quite right too! wink

They are only playthings that get a one day outing in a week, a bit of fun.

Anyway, thanks for the advice.
