Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Road to Gulmarg ski resort blocked by protestors

The highway leading to the popular ski resort of Gulmarg was blocked on Sunday, when hundreds of people clashed with police, hours after burying a 20-year-old man killed by police a day earlier. At least 35 people were injured. Police used tear gas and water cannons and later fired warning shots in the air to disperse the protesters....Clashes between government forces and Kashmiri people are common in the Indian portion of Kashmir. Nearly a dozen rebel groups have been fighting for Kashmir's independence from India or its merger with neighbouring Pakistan since 1989. More than 68,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the conflict.

Meanwhile, special Christmas celebrations, complete with Santa capers on the slopes, have been planned for the Gulmarg by the J-K government, in a bid to draw more tourists to Kashmir. They plan to hold a 3-day snow carnival starting on Christmas day.

The Tourist department has apparently roped in various cultural groups to entertain visitors, and it is also planning to hold a food festival where tourists will be able to sample the traditional formal Kashmiri meal, wazwan.
