Burning Thighs - Could it be Linked to the Boots?

I've been skiing for nearly 20 years and would say that I am an avdvanced intermediate. Two years ago I bought my first boots, Technica Vento 8's, the lovely blue ones. I also decided to get custom footbeds moulded to my feet to ensure I got the most out of them. The problem is I've been experiencing burning thigh muscles, on the outside, front of the quad so much that I have to stop. The burn is so much I don't always have enough energy to stop properly. I have been wracking my brain to work out the cause and thought who better than the brilliant minds at Snowheads. I'll give you all the information I can think of and a few ideas I've come up with to get your thoughts.

- I'm of a reasonable fitness, I have strong thighs and run regularly. The first years I thought it might be down to over exercising before the trip. I was using weights and going to circuits. I was skiing on Apache Crossfires and found it very difficult on the flats. Going down the piste and off piste was fine but have to Shuss (sp?) was agony.

-Before the second trip I was running and steered clear of the weights. This time I was skiing on Apache Recons and the same thing was happening.

The only common factor between the two trips is the new boots and new footbeds. I thought that maybe the footbed underside hadn't been ground flat and that it had a slight wedge effect with my heals higher than my toes. Would this then cause me to have the leg burn, especially on the flats? I've never had this before and can usually gun it all day long but for some reason I'm getting this pain.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful. If you need anymore info please just ask. Thanks

Sounds like a posture issue possibly caused by boots that are too stiff for you - restricting ankle flex, encouraging you to sit back. Means you can't rely on your skeleton to support you and the muscles take a big pounding.
