Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski weekend as a Christmas present?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm going to buy the better half a ski weeked for the two of us. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good resort mid Jan that is easy to get to? By that I mean, flying from Manchester and no more than 1 hour transfer time.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Jumping Jack Flash, this hotel is run by Brits and is in the Ski Amade http://snowvistahotels.com/winter.htm.

We went 2 years ago for 5 days. Really good although need to rely on their minibus to take you into Flachau or a longish walk to the local slopes at Eben. Next to main road so you can catch local buses between resorts. Food was good. Hotel rooms a little basic but warm and good. I think they have re-furbed the rooms since we went though.

£55 pppn HB including transfer from Salzburg airport. There was just me and the wife and they picked us up in a blizzard from the airport in the morning and it took about 45 - 55 minutes. I'd imagine it could be quicker but we were stuck behind a snowplough most of the way.

Looking at the website they have an offer at the moment between the 12th and 19th of £48 pppn HB.

As and aside, I had a very bad cold when I went which turned into Bronchitis so we came back early Sad but they were really helpful in getting us back at an inconvenient time for them. It didn't help that on the first afternoon, the chairlift at Eben broke down whilst we were on it and we got stuck for 1.5 hours in heavy snow. As we'd only bought an afternoon pass, I went back to the kiosk after getting off the chair and asked for my money back, which I got wink

I'd like to go back as it seemed to be a very beautiful area and a lot less costly than France.

I'll try to post some pictures when I get back from work.

Jumping Jack Flash, a few photos from our trip to the Ski Amade (Eben) from Jan 2006

Slope at Eben. So much snow on the piste that it was more off piste.

Just outside the hotel on the road into Eben
