Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Death of Glencoe Skiing 'greatly exagerated'.

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The BBC and Scottish newspapers declared today that there there will be no skiing this Winter at Scotland's oldest ski centre, Glencoe Mountain Resort as it has gone into liquidation. However, the truth of the matter is that one of the owning partners bought the other out and there's no suggestion of the resort closing... The dissolution of the company is purely a technicality of the change of hands.

Originally known as the White Corries, Glencoe Mountain Resort became Scotland's first commercial ski area in 1956. The resort covers 494 acres, has seven lifts and 19 runs.

This is a tragedy.

A good little resort in a beautiful part of the world mismanaged by losers.

I hope they find a buyer.

this thread is a headline on the home page. Admin, can the title be updated to reflect reality??? - ie Incorrect Reports of Glencoe Liquidation or whatever.

Will PM to moderator to see if this can't be taken down as 'news' on snowheads

The facts are that poor advertising and a concerted media campaign to promote the 'global warming' message are discouraging skiers from using the available facilities when they are open and have snow.

Glencoe has had one of the partners who own the resort buy out the other - hardly call for all the negative publicity.

Given that this is a management buyout - how exactly is there 'mismanagement by losers' ????

ropetow, AFAIK admin is currently trying to establish the truth. At the moment, no one has produced any evidence to support either claim!!

Based on the article, it was correct.

It turns out Glencoe is now in good shape.

This is cool news.

Well, it is in bad financial shape.

Visitors have plunged over the past few years.

It has been wholly mismanaged.

I am glad they have managed to find new buyers.

Vastly better article about Glencoe in The Herald today - click here (Whitegold, before you pass judgement perhaps take a leaf out The Herald's book and check the facts!)

Just goes to show decent journalism may be dead at The Scotsman and SOS but it's not dead at at least one other Scottish newspaper.
