Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

snow sure resort that offers something for those not riding?

Hello

I'm off on my annual trip to the mountains (not quite got round to that season yet) in feb 2008 for two weeks. There tends to be a bunch of us, all good mates, mixed sex and mixed abilities. We've gone to france the last couple of years and stayed at Les Carroz and St Gervais, which are both great little towns with good self catering accomodation but poor snow (especially last year when most places were badly effected). Some of our party will want to pick and choose the days they ride, if they ride at all, so wont want to buy a two week pass. Depending on where we book, they may not come at all, especially if the resort can't offer anything to those not up the mountain e.g. yoga, spa facilities etc. So what I'm hoping someone can help with is naming a few places that are in Europe, have good snow records, enough interest on and off piste for decent intermediates and beginners alike, but also has some daytime diversions for people not going up the hill.

We aren't particularly bothered about nightlife (we've got two precious weeks - it's a boot camp), nor are we that bothered about the number of marked runs/lifts, as long as there's plenty of decent snow. However, queues and crowding are an issue. Maybe I'm asking too much, but can anyone suggest some names?

Many thanks

Mikka

saas fee,

stunning mountain town, hotels with spa facilities etc, lots of interesting shops, and buckets of alpine charm, and a great toboggan run!

enough skiing to keep us busy for a week, and theres Saas grund and Almagall close by, and Zermatt is easy to get to, which you ll want to within a 2 week break.

plus about as snow sure as they come

never stayed in Zermatt, but thats another place I'd look at for your requirements.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

mikka, welcome to snowHeads snowHead

Zell am See in Austria is a great place for on and off the slopes, however I'm not sure how busy they will be in Feb. I guess that most places won't be quiet!

That's great thanks Andy. I'll get the Swiss correspondents to look into saas fee and maybe get looking for some accomodation. Like the sound of the toboggan run!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks Elizabeth, I'll look at Zell am See too. We're quite realistic about how busy everywhere can be at that time of the year, we just want to try and avoid those resorts that leave you feeling like you're queuing at alton towers in the school holidays!

Lots of non-skiing stuff to do in Innsbruck. Plus you can get days at and transportation to St. Anton with their multi-day pass, not to mention the various resorts nearer the city centre. Only drawback is having to travel each day to said resorts.
