Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow report 3rd December 2007

 Poster: A snowHead

Muehlbach am Hochkoenig looking very pretty under a blanket of snow last week
It's been another exciting week for weather watchers as a few lucky snowHeads hit the slopes in powder while others have to content themselves with staying at home watching the webcams turning white. It's still early but the season seems to be going from strength to strength in Europe with more fresh snowfall adding to the established base. Meanwhile a recent storm has transformed conditions in most of North America... and even the most sceptical snowHead would have to admit that things are already looking far better than they were at this point in the season last year.
After a few weeks of Austria providing the most excitement (e.g. last week's photos of deep powder!) France finaly got its turn. An instructer from a neighbouring resort described Tignes as the best he'd ever seen it at this time of year and reports of fresh snowfall were coming in today (Monday) thick and fast. What's even better is that the clever snowHead who predicted this storm also thinks that more is to follow. Will he continue his run of successful predictions? Fingers crossed...

Very nice conditions for the time of year in Les Deux Alpes
In France, many resorts are now open, and reports of good skiing are coming back from snowHeads in Tignes, and Les Deux Alpes, (picture to the right) with a mixed report last week from Avoriaz, although the webcam is now looking promising, along with the one in Les Arcs. Coverage in La Tania is also looking good. Excitingly, heavy snowfall is also reported today in Chamonix, and Serre Chevalier and is due to continue across most of the French alps, for the early part of the week.

Hope no-one was waiting at this bus stop!
In Austria snowHeads continue to enjoy the excellent early season conditions with good riding in Hintertux, Obertauern, and Schladming. We have also had lovely pictures of snow at village level in Muehlbach am Hochkoenig. Happily for Austrian resorts some forecasters are predicting yet more heavy snowfall this week, and apparenty there is a big storm hitting St Anton right now.

Elsewhere in Europe reports of good sliding are coming in from Saas Fee in Switzerland, and in Italy, Livigno is sounding promising. In Scotland Cairngorm was open for skiing at the weekend. More reports and pictures are needed from these areas, so if you visit, please start a thread, post some pictures, and PM the weatherHead.

In North America, conditions have definitely taken a turn for the better, with most resorts getting a share of the recent snowfall.
In the US Smuggler's Notch as well as Telluride and Aspen got their fair share, however in Alaska last week, Alyeska was apparently closed due to high avalanche danger caused by wet and heavy snowfall.
In Canada Sunshine got dumped on and conditions in Fernie continue to improve ready for it's opening next week. Although Whistler continues to enjoy another epic start to the season. We're looking forward to on the spot snow reports and pictures from snowHeads heading out there soon.

And finally Japan: Once again Mike Pow and Mac 46 are reporting outstanding conditions in Niseko and Northern Honshu, and have rather tantalisingly promised pictures of powder turns for a future snow report...

Once again thanks to all those who've contribute pictures and threads including http://www.latania.co.uk and www.easiski.com . As ever, any queries or corrections please feel free to start a thread or PM the weatherHead. Very Happy
