Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

b]davealsolh[/b],

I'm off to Ischgl mid jan & am flying in to innsbruck. It looks as though there are good links by public transport or by private transfer coaches/taxis, but have yet to test them.

Accomodation in Ischgl isn't doesn't look particularly cheap, compared to other Austrian resorts I've been to, but seems better if you're willing to stay on the edge of town or in neighbouring villages.

I found the www.ischgl.com website v.useful - put in my accomodation needs & had a dozen offers by e-mail within 24hrs.

good luck

NickH, Bus or Taxi from the airport, train to Landeck and then Post-Bus to Ischgl

I hope this sample works, change time and dates as required

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

davealsolh, Iscghl is relatively expensive for Austria but not that much so. For example, year before last, I went Feb half term (it was my 30th birthday, hence had to be that week), and found plenty of 3* hotels within walking distance of the slopes for about £30 per person per night based upon 2 sharing. There's relatively little 'budget' accommodation, but there are a few places you might find.
Airport wise Insbruck is closest (1 hour), but not well served from the UK. Salzburg , Fredreichshaffen, Zurich and Munich are all 2-3 hours away. When I went out at at Feb half term, I had to be slightly creative and fly German Wings to Stuttgart (3.5 hours) but got flights (weekends on Feb half term week) for £80 return.
In resort, expect to pay UK pub prices for food and drink.

We found the apartment we are going to here:

We are paying 100euro a night in January for a pretty smart 2 bedroom apartment for 4 of us. We were there February last year when it was 130 a night. We had heard stories about Ischgl being expensive, but were pleasantly surprised.

arlberg, Thanks for that, will definitely try the public transport option.

I'm arriving in Innsbruck on the friday & as my accomodation's not available 'til the sat it's been recommended that I could more easily find one nights accomodation in Kappl - has anyone done this ? if not, anyone recommend budget overnight accomodation in Innsbruck ?
