Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Red Lodge Mountain closed until further notice after 3 lifts break down

Three of the big lifts at Red Lodge Mountain (Montana) had mechanical problems on its opening day last Saturday, forcing the resort to close down. Some skiers were temporarily stranded on the lifts. The resort's Web site has posted this notice: "Due to technical difficulties Red Lodge Mountain Resort will be Temporarily Closed until future notice. We are having some electrical problems with our lifts and are working hard to resolve these problems. We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope to get the lifts running as soon as possible..."
...JMA Ventures, a California investment firm, purchased the resort last month. The company plans to make capital investments in the mountain, including snow-making equipment.

The ski resort's opening had already been delayed to December 1st because of warm weather.
