Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Yet another snow magazine - and not new, either -

 Poster: A snowHead

- called The Good Ski Guide. Very confusing, I thought that was the name of a resort guide book. It's been going for a while, though - and claims to have helped launch Neilson holidays. Never heard of it until today, which seems odd in view of its long history - but I can do disconnected. Has anybody read it?

achilles, I wonder if that is the same one that I looked at last year in WHS that was something like £9.99 per issue

Yes, it's been going since the year dot. I began working on the Ski Club of GB's magazine (then 'Ski Survey') in 1978, and The Good Ski Guide was going in the 1980s.

The man behind it is John Hill, whose circulation claims tend to be more overstated than his name. For that reason I know him as John Mountain.

The Consumers' Association resort guide (no longer in publication) was called The Good Skiing Guide.

David Goldsmith, ah, thanks. I wondered about the apparent name conflict - and also wondered if it were related. To be fair, hitting one of the site tabs, I see the cost is £20 for 4 copies - not cheap, but not as lethal as £10/copy. I also see their claimed readership profile. They do seem to spend rather la lot.

Ooops Embarassed Slightly silly mistake I've made there - actually thought the two were connected. Smile

FenlandSkier, good site, actually. I wonder what easiski will make of the LDA report. I'd say it was pretty fair - the Good Points are the ones that sell it for me. I agree with the Bad Points, too - except that I have not thought it traffic-choked. But come to think of it, I have not been there at high season for a long time.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Last year I had 6 issues "free" with my travel insurance.

It was still only just worth the price.

Of the four Ski mags you regularly see in newsagents (Fall-Line, DMS&S, Ski & Board, and The good ski guide), it is definitely the worst. And their competitions are often out of date while the magazines are still on the shelves.

As well as the "normal" monthly magazine, they also do an annual one at that price, which is mainly resort reviews, quite a lot of them.
