Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi we are a group of friends on annual ski trip, 3 skiers 3 almost beginners. Looking to balance cost with comfort. 3 skiers like to do mileage, but obviously need something beginner friendly. I know probably been asked before but I usually get good advice here. We wish to travel Jan 5/6 08
cheers.

mfamily2, Have you been to Portes du Soleil ... Les Gets , Avoriaz? 3 Vallees -- seems to tick the same boxes but unsure which of the (lower) resorts to suggest to reduce costs.

I would consider Ski Welt (Scheffau, Soll, Ellmau etc) lots of pistes - 250km, plus plenty of easy beginners slopes and no language problem with the ever friendly Austrians.

I'll put in a shout for the Skiwelt as well. I was 1 of 2 skiers + 4 beginners who stayed in Soll, we all enjoyed it so much we went back the next year, and again the next.
Some will tell you the village is too far from the slopes (half a km rolling eyes ) but the bus service is regular and was included on the lift pass.

Started my skiing in Soll been back last two years going again this year with two beginners, last year was poor for snow but look at Austria now Very Happy I can't see all that snow disappearing. It will suit your needs very friendly and good intermediate terrain for touring. You can leave your boots and Ski's in the ski garage next to the beginner slopes and walk back into Soll only 5 minutes. It's Austria so good apres, the Whisky Muller stays open till about 4am.
