Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski tunnel planned for Helsinki’s Central Park

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Plan of tunnel
A ski tunnel, 2k in length and 9m wide, is being planned for Helsinki (Finland). The City of Helsinki's Sports Department and Helsinki City Transport are proposing to excavate the tunnel below the capital’s Central Park. According to some estimates, the first ski tunnel in the Greater Helsinki area could be opened within 3 years. Finland’s oldest ski tunnel is in Vuokatti in Sotkamo, in the Kainuu region, while other ski tunnels can be found in various parts of the country....From: http://www.hs.fi/english/article/Ski+tunnel+planned+for+Helsinki%E2%80%99s+Central+Park/1135232116336

Dumb question time.

What exactly is a ski tunnel? I presume that it is a tunnel that you ski through? Does this mean that it is snow based or an artificial surface such as dendix?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Found this on Google, which might answer your question:

“In Finland today you can ski all year long, for this is the age of the ski tunnel. First developed at the Vuokatti sports institute in eastern Finland, the ski tunnel resembles a long pipe or an underground railway tunnel two to three kilometres in length. It is laid above ground and inside it are perfect ski trails of man-made snow: simple technology combined with characteristic Finnish inventiveness.”
