Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Accommodation - The least expensive way to spend 3-4+ weeks in a ski resort?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi

what is the cheapest way for a single occupant to find accomodation in a typical ski resort for around 1 month+?

Are there specific types of accomodation that are suited to this and and come at an agreeable price, and do not cost £300 per week!?

All insight welcome.

Thanks a lot.

There are very cheap hostels in some resorts, several in Chamonix, and the Bunker in Verbier.

Good question.

Primarily thinking Austria, but 2nd place is France. Also like Canada, but its a bit more of a trek.

Cheers
James.

JT1, if you're planning a chunk of time, think about pass costs too. Some resorts do big discounts on season passes, if bought in advance. Ours had to be bought before 30 November and saved masses, meaning it only cost as much as 10 days separate passes. There's a thread on season pass prices somewhere.

JT1, have a look at this link - http://www.alpineelements.co.uk/season-ski-accommodation.html. I've never done it (very tempted, though), but it seems that the company offers chalets on a self-catered or catered basis for anything from 1-6 months, depending on the resort. They have Morzine, Tignes and Whistler. I met a guy from Alpine Elements once - it seems like a nice company. There may well be other cos offering a similar service, so hunt around. You could also consider trying to get a part-time/short-term job - there are a few around. Pam W is absolutely spot on about the discounts for passes bought pre-season, so definitely a good idea to make your choice fairly soon.

If this post makes funny noises on your PC, it's just my envious teeth grinding. Going green
