Poster: A snowHead
|
I have been thinking about mixing things up a bit with some telemark skiing this coming winter. I have not tried telemark before but I would be prepared to invest in some decent fitting boots. Where would you go to find a good bootfitter for telemark boots?
I was very happy with the service I received from Colin at www.solutions4feet.co.uk for my alpine boots but I have no idea where to shop for telemark gear.

Braemar Mountain Sports I believe or an in resort shop in a respectable resort. Not really much chance of trying different tele boots for size elsewhere though you're welcome to try my 27.5 Garmonts at Hemel sometime.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks mate, I am 26.5 in my salomon impact 10 boots. I will hopefully be at Hemel for at least one snowheads saturday this summer.
Braemar Mountain Sports came up first on google search for telemark gear - but nearly 700 miles from cornwall!

As well as Braemar Mountain Sports, I would suggest Mountain Spirit in Aviemore - even further away, but a similarly specialist and enhusiastic place. Although as you're in Cornwall, it would probably be a similar price to fly to the Alps to find a specialist shop . . .

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Mountain Spirit Aviemore too (Braemar Mountain Sports also have a branch in Aviemore). Backcountry Uk based in Yorskhire somewheres I think
But being so far away from those, i would go back to your guy Colin and ask him to get in a few models for you - if he fitted you already he'll know your foot and should be able to narrow it down - though it might be difficult for him to get stock from makers outside the usual ordering timeframes (but presumably they'll have an account with at least a couple of the manufacturers already for their alpine boots so deffo worth a try as a start)
oh, and the fandan love a tellymarker, oh yes

Yellow Pyranha, barry great ideas. I had a feeling it might be quite difficult to find a good selection.
I will email Colin to see what he could do or suggest. Otherwise I will probably wait until I can get into a specialist shop.

barry, The Women of Winnibago - surely that's filthy telemark porn. Plenty of beardies will be "bending the knee" while watching that!
I read the comments following the last vid and pis*ed myself laughing. "killin it on those teles!! so sick!!!" You're right, obviously a generation (or 2) away from being beardy or smelly!
This made me smile... "damn never seen a free heeler in the park, most of them around me are 35 years old." To these kids 35 seems ancient. What does that make most SH's.
Tele is dope. Nuff respect dude.
