Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

SammyQ,

[Cost of boots] / [cost of hiring per week] = [number of weeks you expect them to last.]

anything else is a bonus

Hiring boots is a daft idea, can't be compared to owning your own. 20weeks of boots that fit well and aid skiing/ 20 weeks of hit and miss boots worn by a mulitude of people. No Brainer.

I needed to fit new liners to my boots after about 100 days of skiing because they had packed down so much they were no longer giving me a good enough fit. Once I had fitted replacement liners the boots were like new again and should last for another few years at least.

I have used my boots for approx 90 weeks over 5 years with the same standard liners and they are still on the first clip. I haven't had to change or pad anything out since the first season with them. They leak a bit at the toe but they did that after the first couple of months so i just tape them up each day. However, before that I had had 4 pairs over 10 years...they didn't pack out much they were just never quite right. I went to a full time ski boot fitter and they recommended the boots I still have.
