Can you time the op to get a little bit of skiing at the start of the season, then a bit of biking at the end of the summer?

SMALLZOOKEEPER, what's up with it? A case of bootfitter's knee? It's all that time spent on the floor.

Bode Swiller, Yep, Medial Ligament issues( caused by a bad fall four years ago) coupled with 'Bursitis' caused by work.

SMALLZOOKEEPER, sorry to hear man Surely just ski through the pain? Or is it that bad? Also, would it be an athroscopy? Cause you can walk out of the hospital the day of the operation with those ones.

How will the operation affect your work?
I don't know what employment you have in the summer, but if it is that you get almost all your income through the ski season then you'd have to put that first.
Tough one - but hope it goes well.

Ski.
Crawling around on the Footworks floor will hardly be good rehab post op - unless you'd be planning on putting your feet up & letting the minions do the work. Plus biking is usually recommended rehab isn't it (just maybe not the Les Gets WC downhill etc )

I'd get it sorted soonest. Gives you more of your remaining life as a fit man (said he as a coffin dodger).

It's not looking good for old age, i had OS disease in both knees as a boy and now (Bursitis) and ligament damage.

SMALLZOOKEEPER, bummer. Maybe an operation now would give you a full season reasonably fit on the MTB, rather than a slightly dodgy season on skis, and no MTB in the summer? Mind you, how would an operation affect you employment-wise?

Aargggghhh nasty ... get it done immediately and then get on with your life better than the 'Sword of Damacles' hanging over everything you do. Make 'Naked' work harder during rehab and do all the crawling around ... also will then be possible to say 'Look at me too', when 'Ugly' gets back to work ...
Genuine sympathy though.
PS ... shouldn't the 2nd part of the thread title be in the past tense ?

SMALLZOOKEEPER, if you had an op now how long would recovery be? Could you push for a week skiing in May-post op? Maybe then it would be worth it and get back into the biking aswell, or even head out to whistler june and do a little bt of skiing to get back into it and some mountain biking!! I just missed out on having an operation on my Posterior Cruciate Ligament-thankgod there was only a little damage! Hope all is well!

Screw it, just watched that Warren Miller thing, whatever date they give me, i ain't going before the winter season closes(April/May) i can do my worst and there's already an appointment waiting for me at the end of the year to get it all sorted out, it can't be more than 2 months of my feet and Les Gets don't open until mid june.

Go private? If you have the spare cash, i ended up going private for a consultant and scan (Mr Cartlidge was his name!!) and it was great, in all fairness cost the nicest slice of £100 but consultation, scan, results within 2 weeks, and if i neeeded an operation it would have been done same week, in all fairness it might have cost a bit1

Saw the specialist today, seams i've got nothing to worry about. 'Medial Ligament' damage is nothing and part of life in Cham'. My 'Bursitis' will disappear without trace and should stretch out more often.
What a fool! I could hardly walk from my car to the Hospital. Clearly, after he'd asked me to strip down to my pants and saw my massive packet, he thought everything has it's leveller and assumed it was nature's way of keeping us all happy. I'm off to my doctor tomorrow to ask for a second opinion from a Voodoo Priest.

halfhand, Oh yeah, the upshot is the fact i can try and bust my legs to pieces and if after i have a repercussion, his insurance covers my trip to Aspen to get it fixed with the Footie players!

Did he give you any exercises to strenghten around the knee etc??? If not I assume there is a good physio in Cham, would be worth seeing them. I had what seems like similiar problems due to playing lots of hockey. After physio and some exercises I'm pleased to say no more pain
cheers,
