Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Alignment and ramp angles for ski boots and bindings.

Cynic, got to agree with skimottaret I ride some completely weird contraptions and my 'ramp angles' are all over the place. I have to make significant changes to my posture and balance to ride them. I have come to the conclusion that I should have done a long time ago on this subject that we all have a 'natural ramp angle' just as we all have a natural splay angle in snowboarding. I suspect that much of it comes from the type of footwear we had as children when our bones are soft and easy to misform through external force. Everybody (especially women) have a favorite pair of shoes that just feel 'right'. Ski and board boots are no different.

I've had Spyderjon stick me 2cm further forward on my skis and then Mr McCann put 3 deg side wedges in my boots and heel wedges (2 seasons apart) Both made immediate noticable improvements to my skiing. Mainly in straight line speed and stability.

I now experiment with moving bindings fore/aft (my Atomics fortunately make that easy). It really does effect your turn in and ski flatness a lot. One thing I have learnt is that manufacturers centre of rotation marks on ski's are often NOT accurate. Just lining your boot mark up with the ski mark does not guarantee that your centre of rotation and the skis are matching

Actually it's quite easy to determine and checknormallyfind its ahead of the mark. They seem to put thpe mark behind the physical centre, maybe they assume most people push on their shins too much

Push your ski bases hard together. Slot paper in between at top and bottom to find where the skis touch, the centre is half way between these point

I find that putting your boot marks on the physical centre feels better for many folks

But yes, you need bindings that adjust to experiment
