Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

US ski club milked by its former treasurer/president

It's always sad to read about a non-profit mutual body being abused by someone most in trust.

In this case it's a small ski club that operates on Mount Hood in the northern US state of Oregon. Its funds were plundered between 1997 and 2002 by its former president and treasurer, Donald Schuster. Considering the Club's size (150 members) he mananged to steal an astonishing amount of money - nearly $300,000 - and the case against him only dealt with some of the offences, because a statute of limitations had expired.

Schuster was sentenced last Friday to three years in jail. This report from The Oregonian.
