Looking for a resort in Austria with >100km linked or closely bussed that isnt
St Anton/Lech/Zurs, Ischgl, Saalbach, Mayrhofen, (or any other Zillertal), Obertauren, Solden, Obergurgl, Ski Welt, Kitzbhuel, Ski Amade or Serfaus
Any ideas - are there any left??? "Remember flicking through Where to Ski 07/08" in the librar... err bookshop and it having one in the main section.
Looking for somewhere to go and know about the above and am considering them, just want to widen the search.

I don't know how many km. there are in the Innsbruck area but I would guess it must be in this region.
You probably know that Sk Amade has several largeish and smallish areas that are not all closely linked and could be considered seperately
eg Gastein, Schladming, Flachau/ Wagrain/ Pongau.

Ski Amade isn't really one resort though, it's loads. You can't really say that Bad Gastein is closely bus linked with Schladming.
However, it is masses of skiing on one liftpass.
I would think that alone the following Amade areas each have over 100km of skiing:
Gastein Valley
Hochkonig
Schladming/Ramsau/Dachstein
Salzburger Sportwelt (Flachau, Wagrain, Zauchensee, etc.)

Deliaskis, and all, thanks
Appreciate about Ski Amade but i know about it so its easy to workout the areas and how closely linked they are. saying Ski Amade is just easier than saying Gastein Valley, Hochkonig, Schladming/Ramsau/Dachstein, Salzburger Sportwelt (Flachau, Wagrain, Zauchensee, etc.) etc etc.
musashi, I wouldn't consider Zell and Kaprun to be closely linked - Glacier Bus stop to Zell must be nearly an hour... but thanks for the suggestion
I would define closely bussed as meaning you wouldnt mind skiing two area in one day with a bus in between - an extension of a lift system.

I do have bias towards Ski Amade but can still offer some ideas...
Zauchensee then down to Flachau Winkle is excellent (there is a small shuttle bus from one side of Flachau Winkle to the other.
If you are adventurous then push it further here and get down from Flachau Winkle to Kleinarl.
Then if you are still lookin for more get ski bus down to Wagrain (every 15min journey time about 10) and take the Flying Mozart to Flachau or explore Wagrain...
Haus to Schladming to Reiteralm is just do-able in a day...
The other bonus is most of these open this or next weekend!!

hobbiteater, Deliaskis is right, Ski Amade isn't one big linked resort. It's quite a distance between Gastein and Schladming for example but Gastein to Wagrain or Hochkonig is nowhere. Not that there's not enough to do in the valley ..... Gastein has over 200km alone!!
I'm with flangesax on this one and have a slightly bias view but the Ski Amade area really has some cracking places!

Kersh, Like I say I appreciate Ski Amade and the different sub regions, per my original post though i'm looking for the complete set as it were and by no means have discounted any in my original list (nor Haute-Tarentaise resorts for that matter... )

Finnish travel agency has sold trips to Zell and Kaprun many years and according to their web page it is only 15 km from Zell to Kaprun. I assume it takes 15-20 minutes. But I think you are right that skiiers don't ski both areas during same day. Last winter I was in Saalbach and my friends went from Saalbach to Zell by bus. The bus ride took about 30 minutes and cost 3 euros. So basically there are lot's of resorts which are close to each other but not close enough to ski during same day.

That's good to read, we stayed (and skied) in both Saalbach and Zell last season and are returning to Saalbach again this year. It'd be good to have a day trip out to Zell and at those prices/times it's looking very promising

I've skied Kaprun and Zell in the one day, but that was die to awful weather conditions on the glacier. At lunch we decided to abort and jumped the bus to Schuttdorf. What makes it harder is that you can't ski down from the glacier (unless you are a complete nut!), so have to download in the gondola, which takes time.
