When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Developer wants to call new Utah ski town Aspen

A Utah developer, who has bought a large area of land in the State, has filed incorporation papers for a ski town he wants to name Aspen, Utah. Dean Sellers plans to build a luxury ski resort covering thousands of acres on the Wasatch Range backside, near Heber City, 33 miles southeast of Salt Lake City. The terrain is dotted with mature aspen trees, which justifies the new town’s proposed name, he has said. I suspect that this guy knows darn well he'll not get away with it but it's a great way of drawing attention to his project. After a mini spat (exchanging of a few threatening letters) he'll call it something else and the press will cover it again. Good thinking.
