Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hiya snowHead

The arrival of snow has got me thinking that I may need to squeeze in a weekender as well during the season.
Going to Banff in Jan and Zermatt April. So I'm looking at a cheeky weekend begin Feb.

Can you recommend somewhere for 3 days. Not Portes de soleil as done this area a few times.

1 1/2 hours or less from Geneva or Salzburg with an fairly easy drive.
Picturesque.

Slopeside accomodation.

Good intermediate terrain.

Thanks in advance.

Minx Very Happy

Edit to say we've never done this kind of thing before. Have always booked a week through a tour op. So any help and advice appreciated.
And we are looking a Sun to Thurs. Not technically a weekend Very Happy

If you weren't after slopeside accomodation I'd say Chamonix, dont think there's much of that there (but I'm sure someone else can confirm.)

It's an easy 1hr15 drive from GVA, plemty of accom of all types and great choice of skiing.

Another place I like for a couple of days is Les Contamines but this again fails on the slopeside accom.

How about Flaine? I'm sure you can stay on the slopes there and it's an easy drive from GVA. Good piste skiing in the main bowl for intermediates with links to other Grand Massif resorts as well.

Havent stayed there but looked like mostly apartments so not sure how easy accom would be for the weekend....

if you can get to Turin, with cheap flights. I advise Montgenevre with slopeside accomadation with http://www.go-montgenevre.com/ fairly cheap. short transfer of an hour a half which is good for a weekend. Terrain is rather good and plentiful for a weekend and there will be definantly be enough snow at that time of year.

What about La Clusaz - got slopeside accomodation and close to Geneva? We've done it for a weekend before and we're intermediates. Le Grand Bornand also fits the bill if you stay at Le Chinaillon.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Zell Am See from Salzburg, can even do it on the train for about 18 Euros each way.

minx, you don't need slopeside accommodation for a weekend. Easy transfer significantly more important. e.g. Chamonix 1hr on motorway from Gva. You may need to book a full week (i.e. the saturday-saturday thing). You may not.
