Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What are the best resorts to get to from Zurich?
I don't want to travel more than 2 hours by bus or rental car if possible.

Lech is on my list so far and maybe Wengen... Puzzled

From Zurich, your best bet is to transfer by train rather than bus.

Just over the 2 hours by rail from the airport are Davos and Engelberg. You can also get to Flims in a similar time, but that involves train to Chur and then a bus to Flims.

Lech is the best resort in Austria.

St Moritz is the best in Switzerland.

Davos and Klosters are fine, too.

GordonFreeman, if you're interested in Flims/Laax, check out their web site because they have an online booking system that is designed to cope with stays of periods other than a week.

The train to Engelberg is a cinch and runs frequently, although you have to transfer in Luzern. I don't know what time your arrival is, but it also runs later than the trains to other resorts. You can get a 22.00 departure, I believe, from Zurich airport, while for all other resorts there are no connections after about 20.00. Ditto for your return journey. You can check connections here: http://www.sbb.ch/

Beware of Engelberg... you will be ok for 3 days or so on-piste but after that you will need to explore wider. The glacier is fine if you are allowed on it..and they regulate this by shuttiing the Titlis lift, and, of course, you are comfortable skiing steep ( at the top ) glacial terrain.

For an advanced adventurous holiday, it is great, just don't expect miles of pistes...

Beginning season weekend probably on piste. I will venture to Engelberg after a few warm ups!
Wuuld like resort charm, none of the French concrete Jungle type setup.
Good apres, not too pricey but within reason.
Not bothered about families but equally don't wanna be in a hotel with screaming kids everywhere Toofy Grin
