Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

L2A - Freeride/Offpiste/Powder

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Greetings from SCUK =]

We're all off to L2A this year, although it appears to be a massive, and freestyle styled resort,

then theres the few of us who enjoy a nice relaxing ride offpiste/powder/pistyness

Snowangel advised me to give your forum a post and see if you could help us =]

Whats the freeriding in L2A like?
Generally, are the powder runs not too steep?
How busy is it in term time? [January 26th we go]

Thanks!!

Lou =]

SuperKettle, the French are a sociable bunch and like to go on holiday all together at once. We get quite a lot of weekenders, but generally it will be fairly quiet that week.

Any advice on offpiste/powder? theres a lil group of us that wanna get some decent freeriding done without dying from going to La Grave

SuperKettle, Laughing It's not actually obligatory to die in La Grave - there are plenty of guides who will take you over there and not throw you down a crevasse. The resort also runs an avalanche awareness course consisting of lecture/film session on a Monday evening followed by playing with transceivers etc and an afternoon's guided off-piste on Tuesday - all very good value, given that it's free.

Easiski is the one to ask (she lives and teaches there) - you could PM her if she doesn't see this soon.
I gather there is some good off-piste there but La Grave which is semi-linked to it is THE place for it. None is easy but some is moderate and there is stuff as steep as you can take it (and really you need a guide for it because there are lots of cliffs you can go over before we even consider avalanche danger!
But in that case you'd be better off staying La Grave.

For La Grave I reckon later is better since the place is very rocky (I think the resort opens later than most), but, again, ask Easiski.
