Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Clocks going back

Astute snowHeads will have noticed that the clocks went back last night and having informed every single electrical device in the house (as well as a few mechanical ones), you may have noticed that snowHeads is no longer in sync.

To correct this you need to go to your profile (use the "User Facilities" menu above); scroll down to the "Timezone" section and set yourself to GMT*, rather than GMT+1, which is what you should have had over the summer.

*snowHeads not resident in the UK should ignore this message, I think...

Interesting. The correct way for software to handle this is for all timestamps to be held in UTC (Coordinated Univeral Time (in french) =GMT) and for the local system to add the appropriate timezone offset. That way everyone sees all times in their local zone.

some do some don't. Kuwait and most Gulf States doesn't change the clocks. Egypt does.

Now can our super software handle half hours ??? India & Iran are both (for good geographical reasons relating to the mid-timezone locations of their capitals) on GMT + X and a 1/2. We've certainly got one user in Delhi - not sure if we have any Iranian snowheads yet. Wink
