Hi everyone, my names Carl, Im 24 I am going to be working the winter season in Saalbach Austria! Its the first time I have done anything like this so its a bit of an adventure, but thats what Im all about! I dont currently ski or board either!!!
I am slowly thinking of things I want to find out before I fly out in December and so if anyone has been to Saalbach, or is going there this season, then get in touch! It would be great to get chatting to people going out there, I love to party, Im laid back and easy to get on with and I want to make this a winter to remember!

Saalbach is one of the top 5 resorts in Austria.
The skiing is good, but not amazing.
The nitelife is busy but chavvy.
Overall, a solid choice.

Ginger Radders, our favourite was a bit out of town, called Steiner's. Not a particularly exciting place, but a really nice gaff with a good host who wasn't afraid of dishing the freebies.
Can't remember the name of the one we used to frequent most, was just off the slopes, right by Bauer's Ski Alm (the main apres place there), across the road with an outside bar etc... Then there's always "Celebrity Squares" where you can serve yourself and choose your own music on the MP3 system

I was gonna learn to ski first, i get given some for the season as part of the job!  )
Its good to know there will be plenty of people up the crack! I gotta work hard but im used to that, its the playing hard that im better at tho haha

yeah in saalbach, hotel Karlshoff. Im going out for training a week on saturday so Ill know a lot more then! is ski clothing cheap out there or am i better to buy jacket, salopets etc in the uk?

TK Maxx is your friend, really good swag dead cheap. It will cost you an arm and a leg over there.
We're about 1km along the road to Hinterglemm, place called the Salzburgerhof. Just listen for the noise

Cool, I'm also going out on the 10th, fingers crossed there might be a bit of snow around for a bit of pre-season skiing!
Not done a season before, skied a total of 5 weeks in my life. Went to Meribel last christmas but there was a real lack of snow, hopefully this year it'll make up for it.
I'm not sure what they've got lined up for us in the form of 'training', have you got any idea?

I've got a pair of skis, have boarded before but not really got into it. Both skiing and boarding are amazing and different, each to their own.
Might be worth having a look on the web for some basic skiing / boarding instructions.

I live in Braintree, famous for Freeport and teenage pregnancy

I think South London beats Braintree for teenage pregnancy but I'm not 100% sure!
I'm Temping for the NHS at the moment as an administrator in a psychiatric hospital, its ok quite a doss really, I can't wait to be in Saalbach!
Who do u work for?
I'm not sure how much kit they provide us with, its worth asking them so u don't end up buying things they provide us with.
Get yourself some thick socks and a pair of ski / snowboard gloves!

Hang fire on the ski kit for the moment.... your perspective will change once you see what is what.
If you are on your way out there in the next few weeks, have look in the local shops... see if they will give you a 'workers' discount.
Brands to look at over here..because you might be interetsed in this.... that are cool but not too expensive, are HH ( Helly Hansen )and Columbia.
Brands over there that may have the same appeal are Millet....

I have my own window cleaning business at the moment, Im not gonna miss climbing ladders in the cold this winter!!
I have been looking at tube socks and will be getting some soon!
