There'll still be plenty of snow in Silver Star after the 6th Aprill. We were there closing day a few years ago and the snow depth was the highest it had been all season - but that doesn't help them 'cause down in Vernon spring has arrived and everyone is out on the lakes with their boats! Only issue is after the 6th you'll have to hike for your runs.
This year is especially nuts as Easter is so early.
What are you doing in SS MrT? We're there in February - might be good to get together in Long John's with a fellow

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I've had good freshies at LL & Sunshine in May, maybe a trip over there then chase closing day down through Montana, Wyoming, Utar, Tahoe (Squaw probably open til May) then Mammoth (open til 4 July often), go Hike skin Tioga pass when they get the plough through then some hiking in Yosemite.
Or just do what we did - no skiing in the US but Glacier NP, Yellowstone, Tetons, Moab, Arches, Canyonlands, Monument Valley, Navajo National Monument, Lake Mead, Grand Canyon North Rim, Bryce, Zion, Vegas, Yosemite, SF, Lassen, Crater Lake, Colombia Gorge, Mt St Helens, Olympic peninsula and back to Vancouver.
Possibly one of the best road trips I can imagine

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

If you're not in a hurry to rush home. You can combine fatbob's two recommendations: chase the closing day down Montana, Utah and California (Tahoe, then Mammoth) till June; then start working your way back up touring through the National parks.
While the desert parks are at their best April/May/June, Yosemite, Crater Lake, Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier don't come to their full beauty till late June/July.
April was always "the months of delema" for me when I used to live out west. The deserts are in full bloom (don't forget Death Valley) while the late season skiing is also at their best! What does one choose???

RobW, a beer sounds good. Whereabouts on the hill are you staying in Feb? |
We were undecided. But booked Putnam a few days ago - sorry can't think of it as the Bulldog! Reason is it's just so convenient for the kids centre (home for #2 for the week).

Ditto - but Canada is the play holiday.
If you do the kids then you may be lucky and get son#1 - two years ago he was a Racing Racoon but another week last season (only one due to son#2 arriving) plus plastic most weeks means I'll be staggered if he's not a Junior Hot Shot .

I heard a rumour they have made Long Johns bigger over the summer...!? |
Good. It needs to be!
In a fit of boredom last week I bought a Daily Mail ski mag. They recommended Silver Star as one of the undiscovered resorts - but then lost the minute amount of credibility they have with me when they said that Vance Creek Saloon was the apres-ski place to be. Duh: clearly their reporter hasn't been there for at least 5 years.

Head to the coast mountains. lots of great touring possibilites. Spearhead traverse, Mt Garibaldi etc etc and all the crowds would have gone from whistler for great spring skiing.
The bike park normally opens early may. I had a couple of great days where I skiied in the morning then biked in the afternoon!
