Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

21st birthday long weekend ski trip to ? ? ?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
want to take my son away for a long weekends skiing and boarding in mid march, for his 21st birthday and wondered if anyone has any suggestions of where to go.

there will be eight of us including two non skiing girlfriends, so we need a reasonably sized town with non skiing activities, that is practical to get to for a thursday night to sunday night or early monday morning trip

there are three skiers and three snowboaders in the party and it would be great to go somewhere that the non skiers could easily join us on the mountian at lunch time

any suggestions would be welcome

thanks Puzzled Puzzled snowHead

Neilski, Val d'Aosta may work - the non skiing gf's can get a bus or train into Milan for a bit of shopping on the Saturday. You could even stay in Aosta itself and ski in Pila.

Alternatively something like Schladming with a direct train (only about an hour) to Salzburg may also work.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Morzine, but doesn't make it easy to do the "GF meet on the hill"

St. Anton, and meet in the really posh place in St. Christof..

3v and the reataurant off the bubble in st. Martin is awesome or 1650 and the place at the bottom of the main slope is not bad but nothing special for 'birthday lunch' - and not masses for the gfs to do..

personally I'd tell your son to ditch the ladies and get more practical gf's instead...(not sure that's overly convivial to a successful trip though)

Neilski,

Mid March is good as Easter is the 22nd and schools are breaking for that. Its vey early so completley screwing up March as a cheaper month for a skiing break.

2 options for you either a tour operator or DIY. I would go DIY, not many TO's do weekends. Next step for us is flights. Check your local airports for which low cost carrier flies where and how cheap will the flights be. The cost of the flights and to where would then determine where you can go for the break. Thats just our way. Flights first, resorts second.

As for the non skiing girlfirends....... Laughing Laughing

Zell am See.

All the main uplifts are gondola/cable car, so it is possible to get to most areas of the mountain without skis. There is a reasonable amount of non-skiing stuff in the town (swimming pool, ice rink, shops, sleigh rides etc) and there is a train station, so it is possible to go out somewhere for the day if preferred. There are some nice walks in the area, and the lake makes for a pretty setting. There is also reaonable nightlife for someone celebrating!

Flachau, Austria is a damn good party town with plenty to do for the non pisters. the area is easily negotiable via lifts for those without anything strapped to their feet.
