Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking for ways to visit St Moritz - inexpensively

I've been thinking about a visit to St Moritz. So far most places in St Moritz seem to be rather pricey and more upmarket than we like. I'm wondering there are other villages/towns that offer more of a "down-to-earth" experience whilst still close enough to allow one to visit St Moritz a couple of times.

Pontresina ?

St Moritz is on the railway, so you could just work your way out and see what appeals. You can day trip St Moritz from Davos.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You can day trip from Madesimo, just over the border on the Italien side. Italien prices so a lot cheaper but limited skiing - only 51km

There are plenty of reasonably-priced hotels. It just takes a bit of digging. But you are booking quite late.

Stay in St Moritz Dorf. This is where all the action is.

Don't stay in St Moritz Bad or Pontresina. They lack atmosphere.

Surf the Accommodation section of stmoritz.ch. Then get booking, emailing or phoning. A quick scan of Jan 2008 shows plenty for under CHF 100 per night.

St Moritz is the best resort in the world. You get what you pay for.

Good luck.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for the help. ATM I think I'm more likely to be looking early than late (ie probably looking for 2009). Are there places with skiing suitable for a nervous beginner? Anyway I'll have a look into your suggestions.
