Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

FIS Surveillance System shows World Cup athletes injure knees most.

Interviews with FIS World Cup athletes last season showed that injuries to the knee were the most common injuries in all disciplines (Alpine, Freestyle, Snowboard, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined), except for Cross-Country, where lower back problems were most common. The research was carried out by the FIS Injury Surveillance System, which was established prior to the 2006-2007 season with the ultimate aim of reducing the injury rates in elite skiers and snowboarders. ...The system is based on injury reports from the FIS Technical Delegates, and the objective is to record all injuries that occur during official training or competition requiring attention by medical personnel.

During the 2006-2007 season, 902 FIS World Cup athletes from 9 nations were interviewed towards the end of the season regarding injuries they might have sustained. It was found that there were about 15 (Alpine), 14 (Freestyle) and 11 Snowboarding) injuries per 100 athletes in World Cup competitions/WSC or official training, if injuries which caused the athlete to miss at least one day were considered. Between 22% - 43% of all injuries were more severe injuries (i.e. led to more than one month of missed participation).
