Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

sequoiaboard, legal action by the school? 1. you live in the wrong country 2. the Labour Government have so much to answer for 3. who is supposed to pay for your prosecution? Back bottoms the lot of them.

Almost anywhere in Europe Christmas is a little iffy, IMHO. But you have 1,600m to 2,400m to play with which is reasonably high. When Her Ladyship and her sister did seasons near there (Bacqueira-Beret) around 16 years ago they had snow...

And they claim 60% snow cannon coverage which one would hope hits the tricky spots.

sequoiaboard, How old are your children? I can understand it if in GCSE year, but most schools have a policy of 10 days per year in term time.

Advice give to me once was to write the school a polite letter explaining your reasons for having to go in term time (only time off from work etc) and state you were going regardless. School would generally moan but say ok, cos if you went in anycase it counted as unuthorised absence and the school was marked down because of it.

No idea if that is true, the person giving the advice was a teacher though.

Of course taking kids out of school is a hot-topic here and can generate a lot of argument errrrr I mean reasoned debate.

sequoiaboard, I did a quick search and came up with this thread

Interesting topic as we'll be in the same boat from September next year.

They can only take legal action if it is an unauthorised absence. If you have asked for, and been granted pemisiion, there should be no problem, unless you have already taken them out of school a lot this year ?

Last year was the worst start to a season for 20 years or so the locals say, and although Peyragudes and Superbagneres were dependant on artificial snow they managed to keep the resorts open every day. Peyragudes has invested in a significant number of new snow cannons during the last two years which enabled our guests to ski top to bottom each day of the Christmas week.

Though still a little early Peyragudes staff are saying that they are planning to open up at the end of November/early December which may be a little bullish but there are signs that this season should be better than last.

If you are still looking for Christmas we have availability and provide guests with the ability to not only ski at Superbagneres and Peyragudes but also Baqueira Beret which is well worth a visit.

Regards,

Mike
