Poster: A snowHead

My 5 year old daughter's first proper ski school this season in Plagne 1800 (would prefer not to think about last year's attempt with ESF somewhere else, my own fault). Is there a 'jardin de neige' (ie a kids learning area) in 1800 or do you have to go up to Plagne proper...ESF or Oxygene? Ideas welcome...also have a 2 year old that I am trying persuade my wife we can pass off as a 3 year old...

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

martski, Our 4 year old daughter went into Oxygene school for mornings which was fine (you have to ignore the initial crying of course). This was at Plagne Centre but they sent a bus down to pick us up each morning (arranged through Ski Beat).
There is ESF in Plagne 1800 and I believe there is another very good school based there as well (didn't us them but I think they were called Reflex and come highly recommended)

Charlatanefc, shame they don't do English lessons
We skied to Plagne Centre for the Kids lessons each morning. It was often a rush but made for a nice warm up.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

martski, I think you will find they take them up to Plagne centre by bus as stated.
Re the 2 year old why not try some private lessons? It worked with my friend last year. 2 year olds generally not nappy trained so diffcult to pass off as a 3 year old. Another friend passed off her 4 year old as 5 but that was easier to do!

You'll need to Register first of course.

Trouble is I will have 2 year old in tow whilst taking 5 year old to school so really need soemthing in 1800 (and also a quick turnaround for when Mrs Martski gets back from ski school and has the children thrown at her whilst I am running out of the door to get my afternoon skiing in....)
Reflex looks good though...

There is a small learner slope in 1800 that has a pulley tow etc and all the big kids foam things to ski in and out. Its located at the bottom of Plange 1800 next to the big shed where they keep a couple of piest bashers. Im sure the ESF etc teach there then when the kids are a bit better they take them up the chair from 1800 to Aime and go on the big wide green up there.

ESF do have ski school at 1800 - its gets booked up quickly in peak times - so book in advance if you're going at Half term etc. The kids seem to do really well there if complete beginners as its so quite on that bit. Reflex is the other one- although theyre out of Centre aswell, Oxygene are good but again out of Centre- bus can be arranged although its a bit hit and miss as the driver can "forget" you.

Reflex are a fraction of the size of Oxygene (about 5 instructors last year) and are based at the Intersport shop next to the Spar in 1800 (we ran Chalet Marguerite, opposite, last winter). If you go there to get hire kit youll see the affable Christophe hovering and giving out leaflets. They are very flexible and accommodating and reckon to specialise in cautious skiers. 100% of customers we recommended to Reflex were very happy if not delighted.
Oxygene too have a good reputation and supply transport to and from their base in Plagne Centre, and do their own rental equipment. The great majority of customers were satisfied but we heard unhappy reports about one or two of their instructors (not surprising from a fairly big school).
If you hire kit from Oxygene youll have to collect it from and take it back to Plagne Centre.
Both tend to start their lessons from the snowsquare at Plagne Centre unless you particularly want something else.
