Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The attractions of family skiing in Geilo, Norway

 Poster: A snowHead

In this interesting article from today's Observer, Jeannette Hyde enthuses about the child-friendly attractions of Norwegian skiing in Geilo, despite the high prices for extras. Safe slopes, good snow and instruction combine with lots of 'extra-skirricular' attractions, within soulful Scandinavian scenery.

Any snowHeads been there?

P.S. Amazingly, today's Independent on Sunday also carries an article about family skiing in Geilo, by Mick Webb. Click here.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Amazing ? Or did the local tourist board just do a press freebie for the UK rags ? Very Happy

I went about 2 to 3 seasons ago, in 2001 Christmas. Got a brother working in Norway hence the connection.

It isn't a big place really (28km piste) and my two weeks had to package with one week in Hemsedal (42km piste) which is larger and not much further away. I think on record Geilo is the smallest resort I have been.

It has an nice hotel next to the chairlifts. Many people go there for conferences and take a break to ski there.

Scandinavian resorts aren't very big but they don't have crowd. They can be very cold especially in the wrong time of the year. I had a mavellous time in Geilo, Hesedal, Oppdah and Are for three Christmas.

Many Scandinavian resorts have free huge warm rooms for skiers to rest and have picnic together. So it is very good for children. It is quite civilise to ski there.
