Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Doing the dishes

Yes it is skiable, just, about 30-40cm of dense snow with no base. Okay on grassy slopes but rocks to be avoided. Take care higher up as there are accumulations of a meter in places, at least in the Belledonne and with the rapid warming today expect some slides.

Here is a shot from upstairs

You can see the pistes of les 7 laux on the left. The snow is beginning to melt below 1700m but some people profited from the overnight refreeze to get in some vertical this morning. (not me though, stuff to do today).

Yes it is true that Geneva is a bit of a dump view-wise.

Don't you find the cold/altitude a bit hard for running? Stunning pictures.

davidof, thank you Smile
It was my first attempt at running at any real altitude, though I run reasonably regularly round the valley floor (1060m) when we're here, and I found it surprisingly straightforward. The running keeps you warm - I took it fairly easy though, and it was so beautiful that I had to keep stopping for pics. Most of the trail was clear (like the balcon pic) so reasonably easy to run on - it was only the really high stuff that was thick (Dru pic) so I walked most of that - too easy to slip. Very enjoyable though, going to look out for some proper trail running shoes I think!

I love the Forbes Singnal and the Grand Jorasses picture - that ought to be an entry in the Snowheads calendar.
