Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

klieschr welcome to snowHead s

have a nice time in Grossglockner/Heiligenblut, pity you're not there in the winter to report on their slopes.......

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

klieschr, Heiligenblut is an interesting place... so named (literally Holy Blood) because a Danish pilgrim perished there centuries ago whilst attempting to cross the alps carrying a file of Christ's blood (allegedly). The church spire reaches up to altitude where he perished in the snow and is a pretty awesome sight nestled in the very lofty peaks around it. If you're a climber there will be things to do but, otherwise, Heiligenblut is deathly quiet even in high season. The skiing is really good with tons of elevation but, sadly for you, it won't be open. The Molltal glacier however will be and it's around a half hour drive away if I remember right. With luck the Grossglockner high alpine road will be open - try biking it!

Out of interest, how the hell did you get to choose Heiligenblut at that time of year?

Thanks. Wasn't hoping to ski, but rather soak up the vistas and do a bit of hiking.
Was wondering what kind of weather I might expect. Ralph K

Bode, Thanks. To answer your question, am not a skier, but drove thru the area many years back and thought it would be fun to return and soak up the glorious vistas at leisure and maybe get in a bit of hiking. Hadn't thought about biking; good idea. Deathly quiet sounds great, partying days having long passed. Cheers, Ralph K

I also drove through many summers ago and stayed for one night. Looked like a stunning area. The landlady of our B & B introduced us to the cows when we arrived before showing us our room.
